Mataró Cooperators' Union

The Foundation has become a tool for the future, to work alongside the city's cooperatives and social economy organisations, and also to provide a new solidarity node in the Catalan social economy network.

It was born in 1927 from the merger of 4 consumer cooperatives that existed in the city of Mataró. The UCM works to recover the historical memory of cooperativism. In 2005, the Fundació Unió de Cooperadors was set up, made up of political representatives from Mataró City Council and members of the UCM Governing Council.
