Peasant and communal culture in O Courel de Novoneyra

A personalised guided tour for groups of 6 people, which visits the traditional house-museum of Uxío Novoneyra, in the village of Parada. The visit includes:

  • Permanent exhibition "Os últimos labregos" by Federico García Cabezón
  • School-house of María Mariño, in the Geopark and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Sierra de O Courel.
  • The literary territory, made up of centuries-old groves and meadows
  • Interpreted visit along the ethnographic heritage linked to the peasant and communal culture, such as: the harvest threshing floor, or the lime well where lime was produced for the whole village, among others.

Peasant and communal culture in O Courel de Novoneyra

From the Uxío Novoneyra Foundation we invite you to discover O Courel through the house-museum and the ethnographic heritage of the village of Parada, as well as its impressive landscape that does not go unnoticed for its beauty and history. 

Itinerary

10.00h. Presentation in the threshing floor of the house-museum

Learn about the uses of this space where cereal threshing was carried out and where today we are holding the "Festival dos Eidos".

10.15 h. Guided tour

Visit to the house-museum focusing on the literary and cultural, architectural and ethnographic heritage. We will also visit the traditional lime kiln in the annexes of the house, as well as the school-house.

11.30 h. Coffee break with local products

12.00 h. Visit to the Sotos

We will visit the Sotos de Rubial, Chao dos Calvares, O Pedregal, which stand out for their varied natural heritage, communal/private property system and productive uses, as well as the Parada Mills.

13.00 h. Farewell

We will finish our route at the fountain in the village of Parada.
